EPA and DHA in Fish Oil

EPA and DHA
I have been taking Fish Oil Supplements for nearly 2 years. I noticed my skin was smoother and my moods better within 1-2 months after taking them. Since then I have tried many brands and read a lot of articles on Omega 3 Fish Oils. I have seen a lot of claims as well as recommendations. What I have found is that the higher strength fish oils tend to be the better ones regardless. However I have learned that 1,000 mg of fish oil or 1,200 mg of fish oil is really not all that meaningful. If you want extra strength fish oil you should look at the dha and epa levels contained by the fish oil you are considering buying.

EPA and DHA are the key items in fish oil benfits. They are make up a large amount of the essential oils in the brain. There is a lot of information on these that are for another post. Suffice it to say it is important to get enough of these in your system.

EPA and DHA Levels

A recent article in RealAge suggests that a person should get a combined total of 2,000 mg of EPA and DHA in their diets. The easiest way to do this is to take an Omega-3 product that has high levels of EPA and DHA. I have found
Extra Strength Omega-3 Fish Oil – High EPA and DHA
to be one of Omega-3s that best meet this level. Always check the label for EPA and DHA levels.
